OK, going along with the "Food Pyramid" -- My next level is my 3, or three months supply of canned, frozen -- or longer than bought fresh items level. This is based on a 3-9 system, or three months of shorter term stored foods and nine months of long term storage foods (dehydrated and freeze dried).
You can come up with what you require for this "3" level a couple of different ways. You can do a month meal plan and multiply everything by 3, a week meal plan and multiply everything by 12, or do a meal plan for 90 days. Still keeping in mind - buy what you eat, don't buy a bunch of stuff just to have it if it is not something that you normally tend to stay away from. The more normal you can keep your meals, the better frame of mind you will remain in - and that can be just the edge you need. More on this level later --
